About IMA

A Painful Purpose

Hey, I'm Shernita Brown, the founder of Incredible Moms Alliance, Inc. I have been dealing with the emotional and physical impacts of chronic illness since 2014. At the age of 23 I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease. Brief overview, Crohn's Disease is defined as chronic inflammatory bowel disease that affects the lining of the digestive tract and sometimes (when flared to severity) can cause life-threatening complications. Like most of you, the sudden changes I had to cope with affected every part of my being and placed a big weight of fear and concern on my family, especially my daughter Zuriel, who is now 7 years old. I have been disappointed by doctors, mocked by friends, and even angry with God for making me suffer. Throughout my journey I have learned that it takes a lot of starting over and actually trusting God to overcome. Other than the love of my daughter, what changed my life the most was believing that my pain was meant to change lives.

Dealing with the challenges of today requires problem-solvers who bring different perspectives and are willing to take risks. It takes compassion and vulnerability to transform the way we see our circumstances. Incredible Moms Alliance, Inc. emerged out of a pursuit to inspire and support a community of women who have the strengths to endure the uncertainties of motherhood and the desire to overcome the barriers of chronic illness. Established in 2019, the organization has continuously been driven by progressive ideas, personal development, and a strong foundation of support.

"Your illness doesn't define you, but your strength and courage does."
